Privacy Policy

What we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the rights you have — written to be read, not skimmed past.

1. Who we are

Gigolance is a freelance marketplace operated by Gigolance, Inc. ("Gigolance", "we", "us"). This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect when you use the platform, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices and rights you have.

For privacy questions or requests, contact us through the in-app support assistant.

2. Data we collect

Account data: your email address, password (stored as a salted hash — we never see it), display name, username, and optional profile details you add such as a photo, bio, country, languages, and skills.

Marketplace activity: the gigs you publish, orders you place or fulfil, messages, reviews, delivery files, support tickets, and Resolution Center requests. Order records are retained because both parties — and our escrow obligations — depend on them.

Payment data: order amounts, fees, payout and clearance records in our ledger, and the billing details needed to pay you out. Card numbers are handled by our payment processors and never touch Gigolance servers.

Technical data: IP address, device and browser information, and usage events (such as which gigs you view) used for security, fraud prevention, analytics, and recommendations.

3. How we use your data

To run the marketplace: operating accounts, gigs, orders, escrow, payouts, messaging, reviews, and support.

To keep it safe: detecting fraud and abuse, enforcing our Terms of Service, and protecting buyers' payments and sellers' earnings.

To improve it: aggregate analytics, search ranking, and personalised recommendations such as gigs you may like.

To communicate: transactional emails (order updates, payout notices, security alerts) and in-app notifications. Marketing communications, where sent, always include a way to opt out.

4. Who we share data with

Other users: the information needed for the marketplace to function is visible by design — your public profile, gigs, and reviews; and within an order, the details the other party needs (name, avatar, country, and order content).

Payment providers: card payments — including Gigolance Plus subscriptions — are processed by Stripe (Stripe, Inc. and its affiliates) as our payment processor. Stripe receives the card and billing data needed to process your payment and calculate applicable taxes, under its own privacy policy. Marketplace payouts are processed by our payout partners.

Service providers: infrastructure, file storage and content delivery, and email delivery providers that process data on our instructions under contract.

Legal: we disclose data where required by law, or where necessary to protect Gigolance, our users, or the public.

We do not sell your personal data.

5. Google account data (sign-in)

Signing in with Google. If you choose to sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address and profile picture from your Google Account to create or open your Gigolance account. That is all we receive, and signing in with Google gives us no access to any other Google service.

6. Cookies and local storage

We use strictly necessary cookies and browser local storage to keep you signed in, remember preferences (such as dark mode and your buyer/seller mode), and protect against fraud. Analytics events we record (like gig impressions) are tied to your account when signed in, or anonymous otherwise.

We do not use third-party advertising cookies.

7. How long we keep data

Account and profile data is kept while your account is active. Order, payment, and ledger records are retained after completion because escrow, tax, and accounting obligations require it. Messages and support tickets are retained while relevant to your account.

When you delete your account, we remove or anonymise personal data that we are not legally required to keep; completed-order financial records are retained for the legally required period.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live (including under the GDPR and similar laws), you may have the right to access, correct, export, restrict, or delete your personal data, and to object to certain processing. You can edit most of your data directly in your profile and settings.

To exercise any right, contact us through the in-app support assistant from your account. We will respond within the timelines required by applicable law. If you are unsatisfied, you may lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.

9. Security

All traffic is encrypted in transit (TLS). Passwords are stored as salted hashes. Payments are held in a double-entry ledger with escrow controls, and internal service-to-service calls are authenticated. No system is perfectly secure — if we learn of a breach affecting your data, we will notify you as required by law.

10. International transfers

Gigolance serves buyers and sellers worldwide, so your data may be processed outside your country. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) with our processors.

11. Children

Gigolance is not directed at children. You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction) to use the platform. We do not knowingly collect data from children; if you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will remove it.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the platform, and the "last updated" date below always reflects the current version.
